Exciting new “CastleLine” buses direct to Castle Howard compliment new Coastliner Express summer trips to Yorkshire’s beach resorts
It’s celebrating a year as Britain’s Most Scenic Bus Route – and today the team behind Yorkshire’s award-winning Coastliner buses are unveiling plans for new and faster services to Castle Howard, coast and country, just in time for summer!
In just twelve months since the coveted scenic bus route title was awarded to the Coastliner service across the North York Moors to Whitby, people from all over the world have come to try it for themselves – with many returning again and again to enjoy its stunning views in comfort and style.
Now with summer just around the corner, an all-new summer timetable is to be launched from Sunday 7 July across the entire network of Coastliner bus routes between Leeds, York and Yorkshire’s coastal resorts.
The exciting new plans include the return by popular demand of super-fast Coastliner Express services to Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington, plus an extra early morning Coastliner service across the Moors to and from Whitby, giving those living or holidaying on the coast more time to enjoy day trips inland, including to historic York.
From the same date, Coastliner’s sister company York and Country is also relaunching buses between York and Castle Howard, with faster journeys and an all-new Sunday service to make the most of weekend trips to one of Britain’s finest heritage attractions.
The new Castle Howard bus services (formerly the 181) will have a bold new identity – “Castle Line” – promoting car free, care-free family days out to the beautiful stately home and gardens made famous worldwide as the location of the iconic ITV drama series “Brideshead Revisited”. Customers can buy return and day tickets on the Transdev Go app and on board by cash or contactless cards.
CEO Alex Hornby said: “It’s a year since Coastliner was named as Britain’s Most Scenic Bus Route in an online poll sponsored by the transport users’ watchdog Bus Users UK, with over 15,000 people taking part. It’s a powerful and positive endorsement from those whose views matter most of all to us – the people who travel on our buses.
“Since then, we’ve been proud to welcome visitors from across the globe to “Coastliner Country” – many attracted to Yorkshire by TV pictures of the grandstand views across the Moors from the top of a Coastliner bus, and all keen to see for themselves what makes the journey special.
“Now, one year on from being chosen as Britain’s Most Scenic Bus Route, we’re taking our service to a whole new level with fast Coastliner Express journeys from Leeds and York direct to the coast – plus our “Castle Line” route to Castle Howard, featuring new fast journeys from York and a seven-days-a-week service.
“With a return from York to Castle Howard at just £10, and ticket deals for families and groups plus an extra-special admission discount for those who travel with us, our new “Castle Line” services will bring a superb day out at one of the finest stately homes in Britain within easy reach for everyone.”
