Cambridgeshire bus operator Whippet has appointed Ed Cameron as Interim General Manager.
This new appointment marks a step up for Mr Cameron, who has been an integral part of Whippet’s new management team for the past year, joining as Commercial Manager in July 2023.
He brings extensive transport experience to his new role within Whippet, previously leading commercial and business development at Hertfordshire-based Uno buses, spending 8 years at Best Impressions, the industry-leading design agency, and starting his career at Stagecoach East.
In his role as Commercial Manager, Mr Cameron has already made a substantial impact on Whippet’s operations and services, including successfully negotiating with the Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority to grow Whippet’s local bus networks.
Now, as Interim General Manager, he’s at the forefront of Whippet’s ongoing transformation and growth, alongside Ascendal Managing Director Jonathan Ziebart.
On his new appointment, Mr Cameron says, “I’m delighted to take up this position. So much has been achieved in the year since I joined Whippet with the support of both the local team and the wider Ascendal business, and I look forward to leading the delivery of further improvements and growth.”
Whippet, Cambridgeshire’s oldest bus company, celebrates its 105th birthday this year. 2024 is proving to be a year of milestones for the bus operator, with both Mr Cameron and Mr Ziebart recently marking one year with the company, and their impact can be seen across the business.
Ascendal’s Managing Director, Jonathan Ziebart, says, “I am delighted to promote Ed to the position of Interim General Manager. Over the last year, Ed has demonstrated unwavering levels of commitment and passion for improving bus services locally. He has a comprehensive grasp of Whippet’s operations, and is perfectly positioned to support me in leading the ongoing transformation of Whippet.”
