READING BUSES SERVICE PLANS FOR NEW BANK HOLIDAY

September 15, 2022

Following the sad news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen, and King Charles III approving a bank holiday for the funeral, Reading Buses have set out what this means for bus services on Monday September 19.

Services will be amended to run to Sunday and Bank Holiday timetables, although there will be some exceptions.

Additional claret 21 services will run between Reading Station and the University to support students arriving for Welcome Week.

Green Line 702 and 703, are expected to experience severe disruption or curtailed journeys due to road closures in central London, along the A4/M4 and in Windsor. Further information will be provided as soon as arrangements have been confirmed with the authorities.

Said Robert Williams, CEO: “Buses running on the day will display a black ribbon as a mark of respect, and where safe to do so our drivers will pull over to observe two minutes silence at the appropriate time.

“I also wish to express the deep sorrow following the death of Her Majesty The Queen from everyone at Reading Buses, Newbury & District and Thames Valley Buses, and extend our condolences to members of the Royal family at this sad time.”
