PARK & RIDE PLANS ANNOUNCED BY READING BUSES

May 24, 2022

Reading Buses announce that the Thames Valley park & ride 400 service will cease operation after Saturday June 18.

Reading Buses say the decision to withdraw the service is partly due to very low usage and partly to funding from Wokingham Borough Council coming to an end, which has previously covered the running costs.

Chief Executive Officer Robert Williams said: “We were pleased to have been able to start running the Thames Valley park&ride service on behalf of Wokingham Borough Council while construction work takes place on the car park at Winnersh Triangle.

“Whilst the work is not expected to be completed until 2023, the Thames Valley site hasn’t been well used.

“We will be looking at options to see if the Winnersh Triangle park & ride service can resume prior to this date, depending on how works progress. An alternative to better serve NHS employees is also being worked on.”

In the meantime, Reading Buses advise customers in East Reading that the alternatives will be to use the lion 4/X4, orange 13/14 services or the Mereoak park&ride 600 which is not affected.
