UrbanThings brings mobile ticketing to UK Bus Checker

December 13, 2021

Transport tickets can now be purchased using UrbanThings’ critically-acclaimed app, UK Bus Checker.

Since its inception 10 years ago, Bus Checker has grown to become the largest independent bus times app in the country. This week, UK based MaaS technology and software developers UrbanThings rolled out Bus Checker X, the 10th version of the popular UK transport app. The update includes ticketing, multi-modal journey planning and RTI, as well as user interface enhancements.

Reading Buses, Midland Classic and Hattons Travel are amongst the first operators to retail their mobile tickets in the app adding a new revenue stream to their business, with many more in the pipeline for early 2022. Bus Checker will also complete its integration of UK Bus Open Data Service (BODS) in the coming months, making it even faster and simpler for operators to be included in the app.

Carl Partridge, CEO at UrbanThings said “This is the biggest change we’ve ever made to Bus Checker. Our mission is to make travel simple and we’re excited to offer passengers an app where they can plan their journey, see real-time information and buy their tickets, all in one place. At a time when the industry needs to work together to encourage patronage, we’re delighted to offer operators an additional retail channel. With 1 million active users in the UK, operators can sell their tickets in an app that their passengers are already using.”

UrbanThings is continuing to innovate, develop and deploy world-class smart mobility platforms. Their forward-thinking solutions help futureproof transport operators, and their software now powers more than 130 million passenger journeys across the world every year. Bus Checker is available to download in the App Store and Play Store. To find out how you can sign up your business to Bus Checker, get in touch with the team on 020 7043 1680 or [email protected]).
