The final three winners to gain ‘Star’ status have brought a successful end to the year at Reading Buses.
Enzo Dellarmi, 26, Reading Buses Marketing Assistant who lives locally, won for being an ‘excellent all-rounder’ as well as for work in leading the 2016 Grand Christmas giveaway activities.
Enzo made them what the company describe as the ‘best yet’ with some ‘brilliant’ deals negotiated with town centre partners. His organisational and planning skills were put to good use as he masterminded all elements of their giveaway to help promote Christmas services in the town.
He was also praised for his ‘can-do’ attitude since his arrival in the company last year – with his managers praising him as an ‘asset to the team.’
“Well done Enzo, and thank you for your all your hard work,” said Reading Buses HR Director Caroline Anscombe who was also quick to comment on the success of the other latest Stars.
“Enzo showed great initiative and hard work, not just for Christmas, but since his first day at Reading Buses. He joins the other stars for December in really showing what our employees can achieve.”
Driver Steve Betts, 49, from Woodley, was nominated for helping a colleague following a very unpleasant road traffic accident that was not the fault of Reading Buses.
His main concern was the welfare of his colleague and he not only assisted him with all his paperwork, reports, accompanying him back to the depot, but followed this up ensuring he was ok many days after.
“He’s a great example of caring for colleagues and truly reflects our team spirit – there are many people within our organisation who would do the same and he really embodied our values in this instance – well done Steve,” said Caroline.
Third winner was driver Mark Shaw, 56, from Tilehurst, who was nominated by customers and a colleague for delighting everyone and putting huge smiles on faces by being an’ absolutely brilliant’ Father Christmas. He also stepped in at the last minute for the children’s fun day at Great Knollys Street .
“Mark was a superb Father Christmas this year,” said Caroline, “He threw himself into the role and then to step-in at the last minute for an internal party was just superb. A big thank you to him.”
There was also a ‘Going the extra mile’ award handed out to Teresa Durden, 41 from Tilehurst, was also recognised for her ‘expert handling’ of some exceptional delays affecting her route and how she dealt with customers politely and efficiently, apologising for the delay when they both boarded and alighted.
“Theresa exhibited great customer service in empathising with customers and explaining the reasons for delays on her bus. So much so,” added Caroline, “that customers wrote in to say thanks. “
