Reading Buses are reminding customers and supporters that their popular charity open day is now less than a week away after a three-year gap.

The 2022 open day on Sunday June 26 will see families and individuals returning to Reading Buses Great Knollys Street depot following the pandemic.

And this year Reading Buses will be raising funds for their charity of the year New Beginnings, who will be present on the day, and hoping it will be another record break event.

“It’s a great day in aid of a great cause,” said Robert Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Reading Buses, who went on: “This is our one opportunity in the year to open our doors to our families, friends and customers whom we are looking forward to welcoming back on site.

“They will be given the chance to see how a bus company is run behind the scenes as well as enjoying a few treats from yesteryear. The open day will include all the previous popular attractions which will include rides through the bus wash, workshop tours, open top bus rides, games and of course fantastic food.

“There will also be the chance for individuals to have their name put up in lights on the front of a bus which is sure to attract lots of selfies.

“We do hope as many people as possible will turn up at some point during the day.”

The event will be opened by the Deputy Mayor of Reading, Cllr Debs Edwards, at 11.00 am and will be open until 4.00 pm. A free shuttle bus will run to/from the event from Station Road and Friar Street (opposite Novotel) every 20 minutes from 1045.
