The friendly rivalry between Reading Buses drivers Ed Love and Jamie Richardson goes on…
In the latest company competition to decide who competes in the National Bus Driver of the Year event Ed was first and Jamie third.
Two years’ ago Ed finished runner-up to Jamie though the year before he was the company’s first entrant in the national competition for many years.
Now Ed, 26, of Thatcham, who has worked for Reading Buses for five and a half years, has turned the tables on Jamie, 27, of Tadley, who is in his fifth year with Reading Buses, in the latest company competition.
Unfortunately, in finishing third, Jamie doesn’t qualify for this year’s National Bus Driver of the Year competition which will be held in Blackpool in September.
Ed goes forward with runner-up Jonathan Berkolds, 31, of Spencers Wood, who has worked for Reading Buses for nearly four years.
There were again prizes for the top three contestants and the best theory result. The £100 first prize was sponsored by the Bus Employees Friendly Society.
“We are massively proud of all who took part in this event,” said Caroline Anscombe, Reading Buses HR Director.
“Ed was a deserving winner and Jonathan a deserving runner-up, just pipping Jamie who came in third. We now look forward to supporting Ed and Jonathan as our representatives in the national competition against the best drivers in the industry.”
