Free bus travel for past and present members of the armed forces is being offered by Reading Buses.
Military personnel will be allowed to travel for free on Armistice Day Friday 11 and Remembrance Sunday 13 November as a mark of respect for serving and ex-personnel, veterans, and cadets.
Free travel will be available to any member of the military who are in full uniform when boarding a service, or to those who show a veteran’s badge or military medal.
Said Robert Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Reading Buses: “With Remembrance services planned at memorials across the Thames Valley, it is hoped that people wishing to pay their respects will take up the offer to travel for free to the service of their choice.”
Employees across Reading Buses will also respect the two minutes silence and where safe to do so, drivers may pull over to honour this.
“We have also added poppies onto some of our buses and onto our ticket header as a mark of respect.” he added.
Details of route amendments for Remembrance Day services and processions can be found in the ‘service updates’ section of the Reading Buses website.
