Two drivers who have each received seven customer compliments within the last year and a member of the company’s driver training academy have all received Reading Buses Star of the Month Awards.
In fact, driver Edmund Wong has received seven pieces of positive customer feedback in the last nine months, including two Star of the Month nominations.
In October he received two ‘excellent’ compliments and according to the Star of the Month nomination he ‘consistently demonstrates customer focus to the highest standards of courtesy, politeness, patience and helpfulness’ towards both customers and colleagues alike.
Another seven compliments in the last 12 months, and two Star of the Month nominations, is the record of Stephen Saunders who lives in Calcot and has been a Reading Buses driver for nine years.
One customer wrote: “While I was waiting for my bus at Norcot junction the Reading Girls School bus pulled up. The driver of that bus was so good with the kids. He was like a comedian.
“If my child ever got the bus to school I’d love for that guy to be driving it. He’s a credit to Reading Buses.”
Another customer wrote: “Stephen is a wonderful driver. He is always happy to help. I am 77 years old and use a walker to assist me. This driver is patient, caring and always has a smile for me and others.”
His certificate wording praises Stephen for showing ‘warmth and amiability’ towards old and young customers alike – and all-round ‘excellent performance’.
Finally, Ahmed Osman from Lower Earley who has been with Reading Buses for eight years, was nominated for his indefatigable work with recent trainee bus driver recruitment attending job fairs and town centre events including with Thames Valley Buses in Bracknell and Maidenhead.
Said by Reading Buses driver training academy manager Mick Hughes to be always smartly presented and a popular member of the team, he has been praised for his ‘brilliant’ work ethic and ‘can-do’ attitude as well as all-round ‘excellent performance’.
Caroline Anscombe, HR Director, said: “All three of our winners exemplify everything we strive to achieve at Reading Buses. For two drivers to receive such consistently positive feedback from our customers is a true reflection of the hard work they both put in every day.
“Edmund joined Reading Buses only a year ago as a trainee driver and is already demonstrating all-round excellent performance. I was also particularly impressed with two of the comments that Stephen received which showed he was providing exceptional service to customers at both ends of the age spectrum.”
Caroline added: “Ahmed represents Reading Buses fantastically both internally and externally and I’m certain he is responsible for many new starters that he will have spoken to. I’m very proud of all three.”
