Bus Network Improvements from 1st September 2024!

July 19, 2024

Nottingham City Transport is introducing several network improvements from Sunday 1st September 2024, including:

  • New services to Edwalton Fields, Calverton and Jubilee Campus
  • Better bus services for West Bridgford, including reinstating the 5 minute Monday to Saturday daytime service between City and West Bridgford Central Avenue
  • Doubled Monday to Saturday daytime frequency on Green 8 and 9 for Compton Acres and Wilford Hill
  • Improved service for Lambley and Woodborough, including reinstating daily link to Calverton
  • Extra journeys at the end of the school day on busy routes to provide more capacity

These network improvements build on new services and enhanced frequencies introduced earlier in the year as bus passenger numbers in the city continue to rise.

Areas with significant improvements include West Bridgford, as NCT introduces buses to the new Edwalton Fields development, off Melton Road, as well as doubling the frequency of buses to Compton Acres and Wilford Hill.

Jubilee Campus will once again have a dedicated bus service to the City Centre with the introduction of Pink 29, which will boost the frequency along Ilkeston Road to every 5 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes during term time.

Residents in Lambley, Woodborough and on Spring Lane will be served by new Sky Blue 61, providing a regular 30 minute Monday to Saturday daytime service to Mapperley and Nottingham. The new 61 will also serve Calverton, following discussions with Nottinghamshire County Council, and customer requests for improved daily links between Lambley and Woodborough with Calverton.

To maintain sequential numbers between Mapperley and City, existing Sky Blue Line 45 will be renumbered 60.

David Astill, NCT’s Managing Director said, “Passenger numbers have bounced back to levels similar to pre-pandemic, and we are pleased to announce these further improvements which we hope will maintain the momentum in ridership growth that has occurred over the last three years. With these enhancements to the West Bridgford, Mapperley and Ilkeston Road services, we are again able to offer ‘turn up & go’ frequencies which we know our customers love. Our fantastic team of drivers on these routes look forward to welcoming aboard many new faces as well as our valued and familiar ones“

Services with changes are: Navy 1, 3, 4; Green 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10; Lilac 26; Pink 29; Orange 34; Red 43; Sky Blue 45, 46, 47 and Lime 57X.
