Vandals who cause damage to Reading Buses vehicles have been warned that they will be prosecuted and costs recovered.
Reading Buses confirm that an individual responsible for causing damage to one of the buses in their fleet will pay £327 to the company.
In a statement today, Reading Buses said: “Thames Valley Police have confirmed that the individual responsible for causing damage to emerald bus 761 on March 4 2018 has been successfully held to account by the authorities.”
The man in question kicked the emerald bus door causing the glass to shatter and the £327 will cover the cost of purchasing and fitting a new door panel as well as vehicle downtime.
The company used the extensive CCTV on the bus, both internal and external, to help the police track down the vandal.
A spokesperson for Reading Buses said: “We will continue to work with the police to recover the cost of any damage caused and we will hold the individuals to account for their actions.
“We will not tolerate vandalism or intentional damage to our vehicles, nor abusive behaviour towards our drivers.
“It is really important that all of our vehicles have CCTV to cover both the outside and inside to ensure that all our customers and employees feel safe and secure when travelling with us. It has helped identify people in the past and has once again shown its worth here.”
