An upgraded app, featuring more exciting options, is the opportunity for an unprecedented free ride courtesy of Reading Buses this Sunday (February 12).
Reading Buses is giving everyone on their network the opportunity to have a full day’s travel – for free.
The company says this ‘most generous-ever offer’ is to mark the launch of the latest version of their app.
The company will send a ticket to everyone who has downloaded, and registered, the new version of the app.
The upgraded app is now live and is already a hit with users who love the new features. Reading Buses say the free simplyNetwork day ticket will be sent to everyone’s app and customers will be able to download it to their phone – the ticket itself will only be able to be activated and used on Sunday February 12. The ticket will be valid for travel on all Reading Buses services in their normal network.
The company advise that the main feature of the upgrade allows customers to track their buses on a map. This lets customers physically see the bus moving along the route and then they can click to see the stops and when the bus is going to arrive in real-time.
Thanks to customer feedback, there will also be the ability to ‘favourite’ stops to make it easier to find frequently used boarding points. The app also has an improved navigation and this release also marks the introduction of simplyNetwork tickets.
For customers this means that for the first time they can now buy tickets on the app for services outside of the Reading area.
Said Martijn Gilbert, Reading Buses Chief Executive Officer: “After the success of the last upgrade to our app, we have been working hard behind the scenes to make things even better this time around.
“Whilst we know that thousands of people have downloaded the app, we want to see every bus user in our network using it – so we decided to offer the free-ride Sunday as an incentive for people to not only upgrade, but also encourage people without the app to download it and see how much better it can make their bus experience.
“We think customers will love the ability to track their bus on a map and then dive into the detail to see when it will arrive at their stop. The improved navigation will certainly help users to better find what feature they want.
“The introduction of the simplyNetwork tickets is another step towards giving customers what they have been asking for. We have even introduced a 30 day ticket option at the request of a small, but growing, number of customers.
“This is another step towards innovation and technology at Reading Buses. We will guarantee that the app will always have the best price for customers. For example, the introduction of the 30 day tickets is matching our online prices. We are currently working on expanding the mTicket options to include other ticket types too not currently available on the app so watch this space.
“And with most of our buses having free WiFi, customers don’t even need to use their own data to buy their tickets for the next journey,” Martijn added.
