Keeping up to speed with travel disruptions and diversions has been made easier and quicker by Nottingham City Transport from today following the introduction of personalised travel notifications to its popular NCTX Buses app

October 24, 2024

By saving their favourite stops and timetables on their app account, customers will be sent an alert notification as soon as a disruption is published that affects their route.

In an age of information overload, customers are bombarded with notifications constantly on their mobile phones. This approach ensures that notifications are targeted to specific customers based on individual preferences, making communications more relevant and valuable.

Anthony Carver-Smith, NCT Head of Marketing and Projects said, “Nobody likes it when there’s disruption to their service, but road closures and diversions are sadly inevitable at times. Whilst we’ve posted disruptions to our website, app and social media for several years, this requires customers to go looking for the information often when they’re waiting for the bus with little warning. The introduction of personalised travel notifications which only tell customers about issues affecting their favourite services or stops will significantly improve the speed and quality of information they receive, helping them get around more easily”.

Tom Quay, CEO of Passenger – NCT’s web and app partner – comments, “Introducing personalised travel alerts to the Passenger app solution is another huge milestone for us this year. Operators are working hard, day in and day out, to deliver local bus services that customers can trust. This latest update uses existing information from operators and delivers it proactively to customers in a highly targeted way. This update has the potential to be game-changing for passengers.”

This new feature is available on both iOS and Android versions of the NCTX Buses app, with customers needing to running version 75 or later of the NCTX Buses app to benefit.
