Thomas Gilhooley, a driver with ALBUM member Lothian East Coast Buses, has been crowned UK Bus Driver of the Year 2024. The 56th Bus Driver of the Year (BDoY) National Final was held in Blackpool on Sunday 1st September.
Mr. Gilhooley, who has been a driver based at Musselburgh depot for over six-and-a-half years, secured the coveted title after participating in the BDoY National Finals for the third time. His previous attempts saw him finish third in 2023.
As the UK Bus Driver of the Year 2024, Mr. Gilhooley received the BDoY Trophy, the ALBUM Trophy, and a £4,600 prize money, of which £1,000 was generously donated by ALBUM.
