The annual bus rally was held at Kings Park, Boscombe last Sunday, which celebrated 120 years of Bournemouth’s iconic local transport.

Over 1200 visitors enjoyed the fine weather for this annual event, which featured many historic Bournemouth buses, lovingly restored by preservationists, plus members of the current fleet and visitors from other local operators.

The event was opened by the mayor, who was greeted by members of the organising committee and Yellow Buses Managing Director, David Squire. Special guest of honour was David Chalk, who had served 44 years with the company, latterly as Coaching Manager, who is now retired and travelled over from Weymouth.

We are grateful to many of our industry suppliers for their sponsorship of the event, the commemorative souvenir brochure and the special bus livery sponsored by Bobby’s Department Store.

David Squire said, “Bournemouth’s rich transport history spans the last 12 decades, starting with trams, moving through petrol engine buses to the iconic trolleybuses and the modern motorbuses that make up the current fleet. I’d like to pay tribute to the many dedicated preservationists who turned out their vehicles last weekend, the organising committee and the Yellow Buses team for all their hard work in setting up the event and manning it, to our industry sponsors who made it all possible and to the visitors who supported it and travelled many miles in some cases”.
