Reading Buses today issued a statement outlining the measures taken to ensure public safety during Storm Eunice.
Chief Executive Officer Robert Williams said today: “I am so pleased with how the entire team at Reading Buses continually assessed the situation on Friday to ensure the safety of our customers and drivers.
“A speed limit was also in force for most of the day and decisions made on an hour-by-hour basis as things changed
“The control room team, customer services and back-office teams worked extremely hard to maintain communications with our drivers and customers and react to road closures and diversions as quickly as possible where necessary.
“We put into practice a duty of care to our passengers to maintain normal service as much as possible.
“This ensured that key workers and those who still needed to travel could. And at the same time, included return journeys later in the day.”
