Stephensons of Essex have unveiled a new vaccination bus that will help make getting a COVID 19 vaccine more accessible.
Working alongside the NHS, Stephensons supplied and kitted out the vehicle and will also be providing drivers, maintenance, fuelling and storage for the bus. Aside from the driver, the bus will be staffed by a team of NHS vaccination staff and will travel around the county offering a vaccination service in areas where extra capacity is needed or where there is low uptake of the vaccine.
The bus includes three vaccination stations, a staff rest area, a small bed for emergency use, a portable generator, secure storage for vaccines and clinical waste, as well as a variety of other features. The bus was designed by the NHS in conjunction with Stephensons’ Fleet Engineer and Paint/Bodyshop.
Bill Hiron, Managing Director of Stephensons of Essex, said ‘It has been a privilege to be able to assist the NHS in the fight against COVID 19 by transforming a bus into a mobile vaccination centre. We hope it will go some way in reaching those who otherwise may have found it difficult to get a vaccine.
